The upcoming major highway to be built on the island, North-South Expressway was announced on today’s press with details to excite the nation- especially the non-motorists.
The new highway will have a 21.5km length route linking woodlands to town area, with a partial underground roads. It will have 3 lanes in each direction with one reserved for the buses. The towns that the highway will pass through include Toa Payoh, Bishan, Ang Mo Kio, Yishun and Sembawang before reaching East Coast Parkway.
One major feature of the expressway is that a cycling path and pedestrian walkway will be build along the entire route. This will enhance the clean and green city vision that the government is painting to the nation. Instead of 2020 as planned, the project is likely to complete a year later.
